Bloem Tour
7 Advantage TA pupils played in the recent OFS Super 7 series and the junior Nationals. Rachelle
travelled with the pupils as the touring coach and was impressed with the improvements the pupils
have made. The results and performances were positive and many of the pupils are bordering on
qualifying for the main draws. There is still a lot of hard work ahead and the top pupils are training
at least 4 hours a day. Well done to Veronique who ended the year ranked No.11 on the Nike
Junior Tour. Another positive from the tour was that we were able to set up a monthly match
practice with the performance centre in PTA which will give our pupils exposure to new players.
On the first trip our
players won 3 of the 7 matches.

Payments Holidays
Just a reminder to parents that our fees are structured over a twelve-month period.
The total amount for the year has been divided into twelve equal payments throughout the year.
Included in this payment is entrance to all Advantage T.A. tournaments and sportsmania events
held during the school holidays. Pupils involved in our performer programmes also fall into this
structure. Those involved in performer programmes including private lessons will be contacted
by their coach in order to arrange lessons during the holiday periods. From 4th Jan 2006 your
coaches will start arranging private lessons for those involved. The January tournament starts
on the 4th Jan and then normal group classes will begin on the 11th Jan 2006. Regarding
finances we would like to ask that all outstanding fees be paid by 7th December and would like to
remind you that your December invoice will also include your January fee and we would
appreciate it if a post dated cheque for January could be forwarded with your fees or that an
electronic payment be made for the 2nd January 2006. This will ensure that your space in your
class is kept for you. Our 2006 class time structure will remain the same however we will inform
you of any new classes that are introduced in the future. Pupils involved in private lessons will
continue in the same time slot next year unless prearranged by the pupil’s parents.

Water, Hats and Sun cream
All pupils are reminded to put lots of sun cream on and to wear a hat to their lessons particularly
during the hot summer months. The club does provide cold water for the kids but as Celina only
works on Tuesday and Saturday there are not always clean cups and a full water cooler therefore
all pupils are advised to bring their own water bottle to their lessons to ensure that they get
enough to drink during their lesson.
Rainy Days
As summer approaches and days become hot and long, we face the problem of rain interrupted
lessons. We will run indoor lessons for all ball skills, mini tennis to level 4 pupils and squads during
their normal lesson times. We encourage all pupils to come to these lessons. Tennis is initially
a technical game but becomes 90% tactical and physical as a player develops. The rain interrupted
lessons are an opportunity for juniors to develop their knowledge and approach to the game.
Credit will not be passed for these lessons. In the event of rained out private lessons tournament
and certain pupils will have an indoor lesson, other pupils lessons will be rescheduled.
Private Lessons
Advantage T.A. has a policy of allowing 6 hours grace for cancellation of a private lesson. This
policy was introduced specifically for emergencies or sudden illness during school. We are finding
that this policy is being abused and the coach is trying to accommodate pupils who are cancelling
for various reasons. The coach is then left to make a number of phone calls to try and fill the gap
and then still needs to re-arrange the missed lesson. The problem arises where a suitable time
cannot be found to catch up the lesson and the pupil slips behind in their lesson schedule.
Advantage T.A. has always been fair regarding make up lessons but will not pass credits for these
lessons.
Exams
Good luck to all our pupils who are writing exams, study hard and work diligently. Make sure to take
a few breaks and get some exercise on the tennis courts. We especially wish Andre’, Dylan, Janine
well as they are writing their matric exams.
Head Boy
Congratulations to Andrew Paverd who is the new 2006 Head Boy at De La Salle. We hope you have
a good year, any pupils misbehaving at tennis will be forwarded to Andrew for detention.
